New Query System Launches soon!

'DFP Peer Consultation Process'

The latest issue of Forensic Update No. 103, Summer 2011 describes the launch of a new Peer Consultation Process' which aims to offer members the opportunity to pose questions along the lines of ethics and best practice. The decision tree as described in FU will feature here shortly.

It is hoped that there will be an online link from this page to complete a form with your query. However, in the interim you can request a form from Glenda Liell glendaliell@yahoo.co.uk If you are in any way unsure as to whether your query falls within the remit of this member service, we would still encourage to you to submit it. This could offer us a valuable insight into what is happening in the field, and may contribute to us developing further support services.

Publications

The DFP are responsible for two forensic publications, Forensic Update and Issues in Forensic Psychology. More details for each publication are available on the respective web pages. Why not publish about the work you're currently undertaking? Spread the word to psychologists within the UK!

As some of you may already know, a trial arrangement has been set up with EBSCO Publishing giving all members free access to the Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection (PBSC) journals database. PBSC currently contains 540 full-text peer-reviewed journals, plus 23 other full-text titles, all indexed and abstracted. Members of all grades, including student members, can now gain unrestricted access to the collection. Many members of the BPS are already finding access to this database hugely beneficial.

To access PBSC go to www.bps.org.uk/ebsco, you will need to enter your membership number and password if not already logged on as a member. From there a link takes you straight to the EBSCOhost search page.

The trial runs until the end of October. If the usage statistics show a healthy demand, a longer-term arrangement will be put in place. So I’d like to encourage as many DFP members as possible to try out the system and make as much use of it as possible.
